Halloween is one of the most popular holidays today, right after Christmas. It is a time of mischievous play and imagination. From the candy to the costumes, Halloween is a fun-filled time for kids. They get to dress up in exciting costumes, go out for the evening knocking on doors and indulge on every imaginable treat. However, Halloween is not kids-only holiday.

It is unconnected to any particular religion so diverse employees are rarely offended. Also, people use this festive time to bond with their peers and enjoy the day without stress and usual tension. Many experts claim that celebrating Halloween at work helps create a motivational, team work-oriented work culture. Usually, the costume party is organised for all employees at which they are allowed to ditch their regular work clothes and come in the costume of their choice. Fun activities like apple bobbing, pumpkin decorating and costume contest allow employees to show off their creativity and have fun.
However, there is a dark side of every Halloween office party and it is the mess that comes in the form of makeup stains, candy stains, glitter and all sorts of Halloween decorations left behind. It can look pretty scary. But don’t worry, here are a few cleaning tips to help you tackle your post-Halloween challenges:
- You can start by removing any excess liquid by blotting first with kitchen paper towel or clean cloth towel. This way the chemicals won’t react to the color in the towel and make the stain worse. Start this process from the outside of the stain and work your way inwards to prevent the stain from spreading further as you try to remove it.
- Keep in mind to always blot, do not scrub. Scrubbing can further damage the carpet fibers.
- If water alone doesn’t help, use carpet-spotting solution. It should be the one that you have tested on your carpets before. Lay the towel on the spot for 5 minutes to allow it to soak into the carpet fibers. You can then blot away the area to try and remove the stain. After that you can try and rinse the area with a clean towel soaked in water. This is the best way to take care of a makeup or face paint stain and remove it from your office space carpet or rug.
- For dried pumpkin use a spoon to scrape it off and then scrub using water with carpet – spotting solution.
- Glitter can be hovered from your carpets quite easily. For glitter that is stuck to tables or walls; use soap and water to clean it.
Remember, carpets and rugs with natural fibers or dyes may require special treatment, so before applying chemical on the stain always read and follow the care instructions and any warnings provided by the carpet manufacturer. If you cannot remove the stain by yourself, it is time to call in a professional.
